Let's talk iPhone ... 4S

Yesterday at the “Let’s talk iPhone” event, Apple announced their new smartphone which (surprise, surprise) will be an updated version of iPhone 4.
The “all new” iPhone 4S will sport the same design as its predecessor, new A5 processor, new camera and couple more goodies.

Let’s compare iPhone 4 vs. iPhone 4S:

iPhone 4                                                              iPhone 4S
Camera:               5-megapixel (720p)                                         8-megapixel (1080p)
Processor:           Apple A4 (800mHz single-core)                  Apple A5 (1gHz dual-core)
Screen:                 3.5 inch Retina Display                                   3.5 inch Retina Display
Battery:                7h – 3G, 10h on Wi-Fi                                     8h – 3G, 9h on Wi-Fi
Storage:               8/16/32GB                                                          16/32/64GB
Price:                    starting from $99                                              starting from $199

What else is new about the iPhone 4S:

Siri” – virtual personal assistant with speech recognition element. It is still in beta, but it looks promising. However there is one question that bothers me - “How ready are we to use AI secretary on regular basis?”.

A world phone – iPhone 4S will work with both GSM and CDMA networks.

Antenna redesign – A new dual antenna system will take place in iPhone 4S. According to Apple this will improve reception and battery life.

HSDPA technology – According to Apple iPhone 4S will download twice faster than iPhone 4 thanks to the “High Speed Download Packet Access” technology.

New carrier – Sprint will join AT&T and Verizon as the third U.S. iPhone carrier.

Now, on paper everything looks nice and dandy. The new processor and camera are much needed upgrades. However the “good old” 3.5 inch display seems kind of archaic nowadays. Keeping in mind the new smartphones that are coming to the market, I am not really sold on the iPhone 4S.

  2. It really depends how you use your phone.

If it's just for calls and texting, then just sell the iPhone 4S for some profit and buy a cheaper one with less functions.

If you plan on using its mp3/video player, all the apps, GPS and so on - then keep the 4S.
